AIFW: The Green Fashion Competition

My first show at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week was The Green Fashion Competition. It is an initiative by AIFW and the Dutch ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation to create awareness within the Dutch fashion industry of what biodiversity is and how it can be sustained. Elsien Gringhuis was the first prize winner. She won €25.000 with her collection for the first Green Fashion Competition. There were 8 different collections nominated. During the show Dutch model Lonneke Engel was our host.




Winde Reinstra her green haute couture is on the edge of fashion and art, showing a fascination with structures and characterized by a recognizable signature.




Viral High End menswear was a collection with a luxurious fiber because it has high quality and can be mixed with other beautiful fibers.




Farrow & Tan stands for quality. Human and natural capital is required to provide the highest quality of products.




Non by Kim creates a modern style which looks smart and comfortable at the same time. Designing and creating fashion in a sustainable manner.




Bright Young Things feels that fashion should be about expressing individuality, clothes need to be engineered to last for years rather than reasons.




The Solar Fashion designs by Gomes Esser Design generate green energy and provide consumers with new ways to create a more sustainable lifestyle.





Second place and winner of €15.000 is OAT. OAT shoes are the first sneakers that can spawn new life. They can be planted in the garden or the park.

And like already said the first prize went to Elsien Gringhuis. Her style is apparent in the choice of simplicity and color. Not too simple but clever simplicity.
