A few weeks ago I was searching on the internet for some inspiration for my blog. I came across Dutch fashion designer Anneloes Ouwehand. I immediately fall in love with her designs.
Her latest collection is called ‘Mirror Mirror’ and I must admit that I love the shapes and prints in this collection.
Because I wanted to know more about this collection I decided to send her an e-mail. She was very sweet and answered my questions. I want to share the photos and let you know more about her collection.
Where did you got your inspiration for this collection from?
‘The collection ‘Mirror Mirror ’ appeals to the imagination as a kaleidoscopic fairytale. I got my inspiration from the work of Busby Berkeley, this is a choreographer arranged geometric dance number with big groups of showgirls in the Hollywood-movies of the thirties and forties.
With his specific angles he created exciting effects where the viewer is carried away to extraordinary fantasy worlds’.
Which outfit are you most proud of?
‘The jacket that is made of dust rabbit heads combined with the graphic nude bodysuit and the black and white body suit’.
Did you changed anything while creating the collection?
‘No, before I started I had a very clear view and storyline in my head and that came back in the clothing.
Is there a item or pattern that comes back in this collection and why?
‘There is a recurrent element that is the graphic and the contrast between fantasy and reality through the reflection, repetition and ‘trompe l’oeil’-effects. These elements are except of the clothing also found back in the prints that I develop’.
