Exhibition: Arnhem Mode Biënnale

Every two years, the Arnhem Mode Biënnale takes place. Arnhem is one of my favorite cities in the Netherlands, not only because I study there, but also because this city is working a lot with fashion. This season of the Mode Biënnale took place in an old factory, which has a mysterious and interesting feeling.

The fourth edition of Arnhem Mode Biënnale is named Amber. To personify fashion as a person, Amber was born. Considering the traits we normally associate with fashion, it’s perhaps not so farfetched. Fashion is mysterious, it touch your heart by creating the illusion of an alternate world. As an immediate reflection of the world that we live in. Fashion shapes my identity and maybe yours too. When you want to know Amber, you also learn a lot about yourself.

Through the vision of international designers like Rodarte, Jil Sander, Prada and Maison Martin Margiela they want to show the focus on fashion’s aura. They asked each designer to not only show a selection of their garments, but also to deisgn their installation that constitutes a universe based on their designs. So when you walk through the exhibition you see they are not only focused on the collection but also on the presentation of the clothes.

Fashion is one of the most important things in my life and because of Amber and the words that she tells I get more inspired. I really know for sure, fashion is my life. Especially the meaning behind the designs and the way people dress. That tells the most important story of fashion. Play with fashion and let fashion play with you.

p.s. a little funny fact. Maybe you are wondering why this edition is called Amber. It is not only because it is a woman name it also stand for Arnhem Mode Biënnale when you put an E and R behind it, it will be the name Amber.

Perfect Combination: Music And Style

Music and fashion are two of the most important things in my life. And W Magazine combines this in their July issue. The theme is namely Music and Style.

Ten designers posed in front of the camera with your favorite musical talent. For example Alexander Wang and Diplo, Rodarte and Kanye West and Karl Lager feld and Janelle. Not only the designers shine with their muzes they also do funny sayings about each other. Like Karl says about Janelle that they liked each other from the beginning. Not only in style they are aligned, but also the name: Janelle rhymes with Chanel, says Karl.

Alexander Wang Resort Collection 2012

The Alexander Wang Resort 2012 collection contains shorts, tunics and pantsuits. Besides the colors red, mint and black Wang also used beige shades.

Take a look at the lookbook below. I really like the 'baggy' style of this collection. Not only because it fits with my style, but also because you can combine this with some classic items. The outfit will still unique.

In Bloom

This week I spotted Dutch model Lisanne de Jong in the Dazed & Confused magazine. These beautiful flowering editorial gives a Dutch vibe to the editorial.
The Dutch photographer Viviane Sassen shot Lisanne between the colorful tulip fiels and floating between the blue grapes. This typical Dutch image shows the combine of designs from Rag & Bone, Jil Sander, Sonia Rykiel and Gucci. The styling is done by Katie Shillingford.
I became very happy by seeing all these lovely colors together.

Light Of The Field

Light of the Field, that is the title of this editorial. And I think that you can really see this back in the photos. The use of light is very special. Grant Yoshino shares the ultimate summer store starrig Katherina-Clark. This editorial is styled by Conor Graham. The brunette beauty dons easy dresses with feminine detailling from feathers to ruffles in a woodsy setting. I love her hair and make-up that makes her special.

Alexander McQueen Resort Collection 2012

For Alexander McQueen’s resort 2012 collection Sarah Burton found again using militaristic accents for a collection of tough elegance. From lace skirts to belted trenches. Beauty with detail orientated designs varied with strict structure. The bags on the trench provide with the details make this collection wonderful.

On the 18th of July I am going to New York for a 10 days and I am going to see exhibition from McQueen in the MET. Hopefully I can make some photos so that I can show you how it was.
